Biomechanical
Analysis for Rehabilitation
Biomechanical
Analysis
The Biomechanical Analysis can serve either as purely a performance
indicator after injury or surgery or often it is used in conjunction
with our treatment and rehabilitation to ensure that there is a compete
recovery from injury and a reduction in risk of further injury due to
poor/inefficient technique.
Running
Form, Technique and Efficiency Assessment
Balanced biomechanics, form, and technique are key factors to
running faster, more efficiently, and injury-free. Correct running form
ensures that we create and maintain linear momentum, reduce joint impact,
minimize energy loss and maximize efficiency and economy.
Many of us
have never been taught how to run. We think its something that we pick-up
naturally and we don’t realise until the pain begins
that we are actually running inefficiently which can lead to injuries.
After
injury or surgery the biomechanics of how we move changes , and if not
corrected and addressed this can lead to further injury.
How
can we help you?
When you come in for a biomechanical analysis we analyse your walking,
running, and motor mechanics based on what you want to achieve. We
analyse your body position and look at the history of injury if any,
or muscle imbalances, look at your functional strength and your range
of motion. All of this is done with the aid of video analysis. This highlights
to us areas of weakness, incorrect technique, differences in stride length
or frequency and other weaknesses, that may contribute to the development
of injury and or deficits in performance. We will take you through your
technique in slow motion and point out any changes that need to be corrected.
We then give you advice and recommendations on how to correct any weaknesses
and we introduce exercises that will address incorrect technique
improve efficiency, comfort and strength while walking or running.
